A Domain Name is an alias for your web sites IP address.

The internet works with the IP Addressing System. So your web server might have some string of numbers of an address. Rather than doing what we did with phone numbers. The internet masters created the DNS, or Domain Name Service. This maps a name like www.google.com with the IP Address 172.217.14.196 for example.

You can register your Domain Name with a Registrar, and then using a DNS Name Server you advertise your Domain Name to the internet. That news spreads quickly, soon every computer in the world will be able to ask how do I get to WebShopToolbox.com and the DNS system will return 75.119.202.70
